Starting over tomorrow

Well I go in tomorrow to get my right hip replaced after having my left one replaced in January, the Dr. said that usually the recovery is alot quicker on the second one, if it goes as good as my left one did I will be totally happy! At least with this one I won't be confined to the house because of the weather, plan on sitting on the deck and soaking up some sun and once I get alittle mobile doing some catfishing. I will keep everyone updated on how things are going.

Well got back home yesterday, everything went really good except for one hiccup, Physical therapy came and got me Tuesday morning to go for my first walk, everything was going good till we got to the far end of the hallway and I sprung a leak!! By the time we got back to the room it looked like we was following a good blood trail through the woods, it was nothing serious though, a dressing change and acouple new steri strips and I was good to go, other than that it went great. Sitting at the house now, home physical therapy should be here in an hour or so and thats when the real "fun" begins!

Glad to hear everything went well...that is great news. Now just buckle down and get through the P.T and you will be back to hunting in no time.

Thanks guys and gals! Things are going good, thr therapist said I'm about 2 weeks ahead of schedule but warned me not to overdo it so I'm following the script. Things are getting alittle easier each day, only thing I need with now is getting into the shower. Gonna keep up the work and I should be good to go way before bow season opens.

Sorry I haven't updated in awhile but it has been a couple rough weeks, to make a long story short I developed a staph infection in my hip and ended up at OSU medical center in Columbus. They opened everything back up , cleaned it all out, placed granular antibiotics in there and placed a drain tube in my hip also, I was there for a total of 5 days and now have a pic line installed in my left upper arm and get to carry a small IV pump around in a fanny pack that gives me antibiotics continually for 6 to 8 weeks plus oral antibiotics in the morning and at night. The Dr. Said I was lucky that I came in at the first signs of an infection and not waited, if I would of waited they would of had to remove the hip for sure, but they think I will be able to keep this implant.

Things have been going pretty good, went back up to the infectious disease department at OSU yesterday and had the picc line removed, all my blood work is looking good and walking with a cane pretty good now. I was at the surgeons office this morning, start outpatient physical therapy Monday to strengthen up the muscles and tendon they had to cut now that they got the infection under control, if it continues as its going now I go back to the surgeon on the 15th of Aug and he will send me back to work. I will have been off work the same amount of time as my first hip replacement but this one has been alittle rougher than the first, but I still should be good to go for bow opener, might just be hunting out of ground blinds for the first part of season but I will still be in the woods!

So glad to hear things are getting there. Will continue to pray for you and get you thru this rough tough time. Gotta get the big guy in the blind come opening morning.
